There’s only one road up and down from Milford Sound to Queenstown and it took us about four hours on the winding road to get there. I drove for the first time since we arrived in NZ. It’s definitely weird to drive on the left side of the road with the steering wheel on the right, and I kept putting the wipers on when I meant to use my signal because that’s opposite too. We arrived safely, so I guess I did OK 😬. The views were great again as it was another gorgeous day.
We were supposed to stay in Te Anau a few more days, but we cancelled our hotel reservation as there really isn’t much in that town and we wanted to explore more of Queenstown.
When we arrived at the motel, we threw in a load of laundry as soon as we arrived because our dirty clothes outweighed the clean ones.
For dinner, we drove back to Arrowtown at the suggestion of Stuart at Mt. Rosa Lodge, to eat at an Italian restaurant called Aosta.
Great call Stuart, thanks! We had another delicious meal with the most amazing focaccia to start and a unique tiramisu for dessert that our server whipped up right at our table. It was as tasty as it looked.
On the way out, the bartender told us that people come in all the time and sit at the bar just to get one of those. No wonder. It was a work of art. This one makes my list as one of our top desserts of the trip.
