April 13

Saturday mornings are busy at the Parnell Farmers’ Market.

It’s a good place to arrive hungry, which we did. After browsing the food stalls, we each settled on a gozleme, a stuffed Turkish pancake.

To follow up with something sweet, I went for a mini Portuguese tart, one of my favorites. We got a coffee and some fresh bread for our RV trip and then left to stroll the high street, stopping here and there.

It was a beautiful fall day with colorful leaves swirling in the wind.

We grabbed an Uber to the Ponsonby neighborhood to stroll some more. However, on the way, our Uber driver accidentally missed the turn for the neighborhood and we wound up taking the scenic route detour over the Sky Harbor Bridge where he turned around and crossed back over the bridge to drop us in the right neighborhood. We got some bonus views of Auckland. He was a great driver and apologized as he just got distracted chatting with us.

In Ponsonby, cool shops made for lots of places to browse. It started pouring, then the sun came out and things warmed up, then it got really windy and rained again. Repeat that crazy weather for the rest of the day and that’s what we got. The weather here is never dull.

Tired and needing a break, Mekong Baby provided the respite we needed with a tasty snack and fast WiFi to finish a blog. We ended up hanging around long enough to warrant dinner, then dessert, which was a good plan because the food was great and the owner and servers were really nice.

We headed back to the hotel to finish sorting out what we were taking on the RV and what we were leaving behind at the motorhome office. We’re so excited for our two week RV experience!
