That’s Māori for Goodbye.

Ut-Oh!

We drove to the airport and the weather seemed fine. Not too windy, but it was raining. We checked in and Air NZ put us on an earlier flight to Auckland just in case.

Goodbye Windy Wellington

The flight from Wellington was great. No issues. The views were beautiful as we flew up the coast and over Raglan into Auckland getting our last sights of this magical place. It’s sunny here in Auckland today. No wind.

Our layover is longer now. Thankfully, we have lounge access, so we are waiting to board our flight home to Denver via LA. It’s in 6 hours. 😬

Our current location

We’re back to where we started four months ago when we landed at this airport to begin our journey. And what an incredible adventure it’s been.

We can’t believe it has gone by so fast, but we are ready to be home. If only we can click our heels and not have to endure our next flights to LA and Denver. I’ve downloaded a bunch of movies and season 3 of Bridgerton just released, so I’m excited for the binge.

It’s going to feel strange not to be writing about my day anymore. Walking the dog, doing laundry, food shopping, reading, cooking and baking doesn’t have quite the same allure as climbing mountains, kayaking in glacial lakes and spotting kiwis in the wild. Who wants to read about a middle aged former baker trying to figure out her next move? Exactly.

For those of you who have read the blog every day and for those who have popped in and out of the Blogary, thank you for coming on this journey with us. We’ve enjoyed sharing our travels with all of you and hope to tell of our adventures in person soon.

We’ll let you know when we’re home safe!

Bon voyage!

  1. I know I’ll see you both soon and can thank you in person, but just wanted to let you know how grateful I am that you shared your journey with us. What an incredible gift. In many ways, I felt like I was right there with you. And how lucky we all are that you left this amazing blueprint for the next NZ travelers. Hope the trip back is uneventful.
