We rescheduled it for tomorrow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Not having a back up plan, we had a leisurely start to the day. We decided to head towards the town of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newzealand.com\/nz\/tairua\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Tairua<\/a> (\u201ctwo tides\u201d) about 30 minutes away. Tairua has a mild climate with annual temperatures between 50 and 70 degrees. Even though it seemed close over the harbor, it was still a 25 minute drive further. Since it was so windy, it wasn\u2019t a great beach day, but it was decent enough for us to grab our towels and lay them down on a grassy area overlooking the water in an area we found sheltered from the breeze called Pleasant Point Reserve.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" pier.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We grazed on some snacks and listened to a podcast (<a href=\"https:\/\/podcasts.apple.com\/us\/podcast\/bone-valley\/id1643974551\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Bone Valley<\/a> &#8211; very good!). I fell asleep while listening, so once we were back in the car, we had to rewind so I could get caught up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We popped to the grocery store on the way home to pick up some things to cook for dinner.
