So I did laundry and ate a delicious mince (beef) pie from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fairliebakehouse.co.nz\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Fairlie Bakehouse<\/a> instead. Not the planned start to the day, but productive nonetheless.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We were getting antsy sitting around the apartment, so we decided to go for a drive. We stopped along the way to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.doc.govt.nz\/parks-and-recreation\/places-to-go\/canterbury\/places\/lake-pukaki-area\/?tab-id=50578\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Lake Pukaki<\/a> outside the Tekapo military base for some photos and took a video, during which the gusts of winds nearly blew me away!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We headed further north to <a href=\"https:\/\/en.m.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Lake_Pukaki\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Lake Pukaki<\/a>, a glacier lake in the heart of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mackenzienz.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Mackenzie Region.<\/a> Again, that incredible turquoise blue water sparkled on the surface of the lake, even more so than Lake Tekapo. Lake Pukaki is 68 miles around, with an average depth of 154 feet. The lake has never frozen. We bought some freshwater king salmon filets to cook at the apartment tomorrow. I can\u2019t wait!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.weseektravel.com\/peters-lookout-mount-cook\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Peters Lookout<\/a> was an amazing vantage point across to Mt Cook\/Aoraki, the highest mountain in New Zealand at 12,217 ft. We\u2019ll be making a visit there later in the week to go on a glacier tour and also a hike.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery
